Race 7 - THE COUGAR CUP
The Cougar Cup saw the winners from the 6 card races take to the track for the last race of the evening in the 2 Mile Sprint. This was not a race for the faint hearthed and showed that a good steady sprinter will win over this distance.

Barrier 1 - Brown Bear
Barrier 2 - Making Tracks
Barrier 3 - Boarder Patrol
Barrier 4 - The Dog Squad
Barrier 5 - Ball and Chain
Barrier 6 - Well Hung

As soon as the barriers gates were down Ball and Chain was away to a flying start and looked to have too big a lead to draw back from, but it was the old "hare and the tortise" fable that was to be the difference over such a long distance. Boarder Patrol was proving to be a stayer at the distance with a healthy 6 body lengths behind the Making Tracks with 3/4 of a length still to go, but as the race progressed it was the Gelding Well Hung who bolted from the middle of the pack to take the winners post by a nose over the in form The Dog Squad who managed to just pip Ball and Chain at the post to take out second place.

FINAL STANDINGS: (paid on 1st & 2nd only)
